Heat treating the glass significantly increases its strength and durability in order to meet all the safety requirements demanded by each project. Tvitec has a modern range of high-tech furnaces—up to 39 feet (12 meters) in length—for the tempering or thermosetting process.

All the glass panes that are subjected to thermal processing are stamped according to the relevant regulations. Depending on the client’s demands, the certification stamps are placed in different positions in accordance to their local laws.

After clearing the furnaces, visual measurements and revisions are carried out with thermographic imaging and with an ilook scanner to verify perfect flatness, or to mitigate any anomaly.

The architectural glass undergo thermal processes for façades, screen-printed glass, shaped glass, drilled or beveled glass for furniture, and naturally, for safety glass, to protect against impact, forced-entry, explosions or projectiles.

If required, Tvitec has furnaces for HST (Heat Soak Test) treatment. Thus, the glass panes pieces are subjected to a heating cycle of 538 ° F ( 280 ° C) for a set amount of time to mitigate possible spontaneous breakage by nickel impurities or of other metals that can be present in the glass.
