The process of joining two or more glass sheets is carried out in clean rooms by means of interlayers that provide a set of insulating, acoustic and safety-ensuring properties. The lamination provides the resulting glass product with greater resistance and adhesion. This is called safety glass. In case of shattering, the glass shards adhere to the laminated sheet and don’t peel off.
Depending on the characteristics of the project (resistance, location, safety) and customer requirements, different types of interlayering can be used.
The lamination process culminates with the treatment by autoclaves of up to 49 feet (15 meters) long, where heat and pressure is applied for a set amount of time to ensure total adhesion.
